Eureka's Golden Gate Bridge

One of my favorite places – the Beaver Bridge in Beaver, Arkansas was built in 1949 by the Pioneer Construction Co. of Malvern, Arkansas and is modeled after the San Francisco, California Golden Gate Bridge and the Mackinac, Michigan Bridge. It the last remaining suspension bridge in the state of Arkansas. It crosses the White River. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on April 9, 1990.

This beautiful old suspension bride is 554 feet long and only 11 feet wide with wooden planks and railings with wire suspension. Due to the bridge being so narrow, only one car can cross at a time. For a short time there was much debate about this historic bridge.  But due to locals voicing their desire to keep the bridge, the State of Arkansas did not tear down this historic beauty.

This bridge is also a star. It has been featured in the movie Elizabethtown. This area is so picturesque with poppies and wild flowers growing everywhere as well as the add of the beach area along the White River.

Chantilly Lace Inn

Uniquely Eureka!

In Eureka Springs, things to do are aplenty, and it is really impossible for a tourist to cover all of them in a single trip. It is rich in culture and has famous festivals as well as beautiful lakes, mountains and other natural attractions. One of the main reasons why people visit Eureka Springs is because it is home to some of the most famous buildings in Arkansas.  Chantilly Lace Inn is going to do a weekly feature on some of these buildings.  Stay tuned!
